Knowing Our Communities
This area will give you access to a variety of documents and maps that work together to paint a picture of Buckinghamshire.
There is a wealth of information including population figures and their changes, age, ethnicity, deprivation information, health indicators and many other social characteristics. A lot of the information is based on 2001 census data but other more up-to-date sources have also been used. The information is available at county, district and community levels.
The information can be accessed through four main ways.
Profiles
These are sets of predominantly demographic information that have been analysed and written up, illustrated by charts and tables of data. They are based on particular areas (e.g. 19 local community areas, one profile for each) or themes (e.g. ACORN, one profile for each of the 10 ACORN groups).
Topics
This area offers information about specific population characteristics (e.g. deprivation). Each topic provides a greater insight into the specific population characteristic.
Population
From this area you can access the latest district and county level mid-year population estimates and projections. You can also find total population figures for towns and villages, parishes, wards and local community areas.
Mapstore
From this area you can access over 100 countywide maps on a range of social and demographic topics. The maps are coloured so you can see where concentrations of people with particular types of social and demographic characteristics are located.
