This training guide is aimed at people who work with disabled children and young people. The training is also available to those who want to enhance their skills for working with disabled children, young people and their families. The guide includes details about the "Opening Minds, Opening Doors" Inclusion training.

Throughout the year updates, new courses and flyers will continue to be circulated so keep checking the website for updates. Your comments and ideas on how we can continue to improve and extend training opportunities are welcome and can be sent to the same address.

Who is the training aimed at?

Anyone employed to work directly with disabled children and young people to provide a short break, activity or 1:1 care.
This is likely to include:

  • Sessional workers at specialist activity schemes
  • Befrienders and sitters
  • Personal assistants (PA’s) and 1:1 carers
  • Learning support assistants
  • Foster carers
  • Contract carers
  • Agency workers
  • Specialist child minders
  • Overnight respite carers
  • Workers in universal services
  • Youth and play workers

How much will it cost?

Buckinghamshire County Council are subsidising the cost of attendance on the training programmes. Please view the training guide for specific course costs.
