Parenting and family support strategy

The Parenting and Family Support Strategy builds on current good practice in Buckinghamshire. It reflects the principles of the Government’s Think Family approach through enhancing parenting and family support, including early intervention and prevention.
Think Family means securing better outcomes for children, young people and families by equipping parents and carers with the confidence, information and skills they need through co-ordination of support from children’s, young people’s, adults and family services.
Parents and carers can significantly influence outcomes for children and young people, regardless of social class and ethnic origin. Positive parenting includes the provision a secure and stable home environment, intellectual stimulation, parent child discussion, constructive social and educational values and high aspirations relating to personal fulfilment and good citizenship.
The strategy provides a framework to incorporate existing parenting and family support, the development of new initiatives based upon Government guidance and by working towards evidence based practice.
