Dignity in Bucks committee

The Dignity in Bucks Committee is accountable to the SVA Board.

The members have an interest in ensuring quality provision and customer satisfaction by promoting the dignity statement and the 10 dignity challenges.

The Committee has objectives and an agreed work plan which underpins the developments required to take the 'Dignity In Care' agenda forward across health and social care services.

The committee has member representation from a number of different organisations.

  • Buckinghamshire County Council - Directorate of Adults and Family Wellbeing.
  • Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust
  • NHS Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Cluster
  • Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust
  • The private, voluntary and independent sector

Awards event 2013

When the Dignity in Care campaign began in November 2006, the aim was to inspire health & social care staff and local people to place dignity and compassion at the heart of care services, and in their communities.  Five years on and an army of over 25,000 Dignity Champions are all doing their bit to make a difference in peoples’ lives. 

What's happening in 2013?

  • A show casing event for good practice in Buckinghamshire
  • An awards ceremony honouring nominated services who have made the greatest improvements to their service delivery

Download your nomination form here - there are three categories for nominations :

  2. Most innovative idea
  3. Smallest Change, Biggest Impact

Nomination forms are also available from csibusiness@buckscc.gov.uk 

Nominations will be reviewed week commencing 7th January 2013 by the 'Action for Dignity in Buckinghamshire' committee.  The best in each category submitted will be presented with an award at the 'Action for Dignity in Buckinghamshire' event to be held early in 2013. The committee will also contact a number of those nominated to present their service innovation at the event to showcase good practice.

Information will be distributed by partner organisations, the council will distribute to all partnership boards and all contracted providers of services.

Dignity Champions are willing to:

  • stand up and challenge disrespectful behaviour rather than just tolerate it;
  • act as good role models by treating other people with respect, particularly those who are less able to stand up for themselves;
  • speak up about Dignity to improve the way that services are organised and delivered;
  • influence and inform colleagues;
  • listen to and understand the views and experiences of citizens.
